Online Certificate Programs

Clinical Research Methods (CRM) Online Certificate Program

The CRM Online Certificate Program, offered through the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health (UIC SPH), is designed to introduce clinicians, including physicians, pharmacists, nurses, dentists, and physical therapists, to an array of methodologies needed to conduct clinical and translational research in a multi-disciplinary research environment.

Topic areas include study design; ethical treatment of human subjects and regulatory requirements; epidemiology; univariate, bivariate and multivariate statistical methods; statistical computing data management; and primary data collection.

The program is offered entirely online, consists of five courses for a total of 17 credit hours, and takes one year on a part-time basis to complete. This program provides access to CTS education for many clinicians, particularly fellows, and faculty unable to commit the time necessary for the Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Science (MS CTS).

Health Disparities Research (HDR) Online Certificate Program

The HDR Online Certificate Program, also offered through the UIC SPH, is a post-baccalaureate certificate that provides a documented concentration of study for graduate students, fellows, junior faculty, and working professionals particularly interested in identifying, analyzing, and addressing health disparities in vulnerable communities and broader populations. Aimed at health science professionals across the spectrum, course content is applicable across disciplines.

Topic areas include theoretical perspectives of health disparities; research methodology specific to the study of health disparities; and the use of evidence in policy development and implementation.

The program is offered entirely online, consists of four courses for a total of 13 credit hours, and takes one year on a part-time basis to complete. Taken together, the HDR courses provide the knowledge needed to design, conduct, and collaborate in health disparities research.
